A strong belief; leadership is key to success
Our belief is that great leadership is the key success factor for any
company in any industry. Success as a leader is entirely dependent on
the ability to create and retain motivated and committed teams. We have
introduced Yomento (Personal Leadership Trainer) to help any ambitious
leader to improve their daily leadership skills.
Grounded in the 70-20-10 model
We believe in the 70-20-10 model, a commonly used model for learning and
development. It says that 70% of all leadership development happens
through practice and experience, 20% is developed through others and 10%
from courses and books.
Our conclusion is that leaders must have the opportunity to train
leadership in the daily environment. Which needs to be much more adopted
than it is today.
Leadership is a capability
Anyone can develop their leadership skills if they invest time every
week to practice leadership in their daily work. We like to think of it
with a muscle; if you go to the gym and exercise every day your muscles
will grow, if you stop exercising your muscles will not grow. However,
it will take time before you notice any difference.
“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember.
Involve me and I learn.”
– Benjamin Franklin
Training format based on behavioral science.
One of the most important parts of leadership development is driving new
behaviors(1). That’s why we use Cognitive Behavioral Theory (CBT)
principles and behavioral psychologists to adopt it in the training.
A self-developed and unique training method has been created in order to
help leaders train in their everyday work. It is called “BAR” – Brief –
Action – Reflection.
• The leader/user gets a short brief on what and how.
• Then the user takes action, practice in the daily environment.
• Lastly, it all ends with a reflection to enhance learning and
understand how the behavior affects the leadership.
Leadership content based on research. Proven by users.
Based on the learnings from Harvard/Google Project Oxygen(2), Yomento is
focusing on daily leadership skills. This includes among others; a
leader’s ability to communicate, make clear decisions and facilitate
These behaviors and training have also been thoroughly tested with and
on leadership consultants and leaders in their daily context. Using data
and qualitative feedback, we have proven that the content help leaders
become better in their daily context.
The training focus mainly on 6 main leadership skill-areas:
• Time Management
The goal is to make every individual and teams committed, innovative and
productive – and collaborate on a common vision and direction, the
Using technology for individualized training
To make the training effective for every leader, we believe in
individualization. That means not only customizing training content
based on a leader’s role, but also recommending certain trainings along
the journey as well as making the training more on-demand.
We use state-of-the-art technology to deliver the most relevant training
program for each individual.
This also means delivering the content in a bite-sized format, making
sure the leader take action.
“The more specific and customized training, the more
effective it is likely to be”
– Google L&D.
Feedback an important part to improve
Leadership development is based on two key cornerstones, self-awareness
and self-confidence. In addition to the leader’s own ability to reflect,
feedback from the team (and peers) is essential to understand and
develop relevant skills. Yomento offers opportunities to get feedback on
their own development as a leader.
“If it gets measures, it gets done”
An important part of leadership development is being able to follow
leaders’ training. We strongly believe that measuring leadership data
will have a profound impact on an organizations way to think and act
around their strategies. That’s why we help organizations with behavior
data, benchmarks, progress rates and more to give the organization
actionable insights to drive performance in a new way.
Leadership in a future context
There is a fundamental change in how companies and organizations will be
operating and this will put new demands on leadership and leadership
This new structure has many names, like VUCA, Tiel organizations and
Holacracy. The expressions are used to describe the ever-changing, fast
moving environment that is very uncertain and complex.
This is one of many reasons why daily leadership is important. As one of
the founding in Google/Harvard Project Oxygen; even though the
environment is getting more complex, the need for basic and daily
leadership skills is more important than ever.
“Leadership development is like taking care of our teeth.
We cannot only go to the dentist, we need to brush our
teeth every day to stay healthy.”
– Simon Sinek
