Just five weeks into Kronans Apotek's new leadership initiative, the leaders have collectively taken more than 1000 deliberate and active steps to develop as leaders. Monika Konjicki, who is responsible for leadership development at Kronans Apotek and Oriola, shares insights about the initiative.

What are you doing to develop leadership at your company right now?

We already have skilled leaders and at the same time, we need to support them in growing and developing to meet all the exciting challenges we face. We believe that it is important to actively engage in leadership, and we wanted to enable training and development in everyday work, which also goes completely in line with our way of seeing learning and development. 

Our leaders have been given access to Yomento as a tool for their own development. The Yomento app provides very concrete support; from an explanation of how and what to do, to encouragement to actually perform the behavior, and then helps me reflect on the behavior.

Why did you choose to work with leadership development in this way?

We wanted to think differently and become more digital, in order to also use data to follow the development. For example, I can follow in real time how active our leaders are, what they are training on, and what our employees want our leaders to develop within. It was also important for us that all leaders could participate, so that everyone has the opportunity to develop, and for the leverage effect of it.

How do the leaders experience this way of actively training leadership?

It is appreciated that we are doing something new and exciting together - all leaders. 

The tool is also perceived as a really good and concrete support. It has been generally well-received, while I know that it can be a challenge for some to get started. Some train more and others less, but I know from the aggregated data I have access to that everyone participates in some form.

So there is obviously high activity, can you also say something about the effects achieved?

It has definitely become a topic of conversation among our leaders and I feel that there is a greater awareness of their own behavior among the leaders.


“I have noticed myself that the feedback climate has improved in a short amount of time; there is more feedback given between colleagues in meetings, in the Teams chat, and via email. 

I can see and hear leaders exhibiting behaviors that I know are in the app; for example, summarizing a conversation before it ends or being clear about the purpose and goals of a meeting.”

As the person responsible for leadership development, what is your role in this initiative?

For us, Yomento is part of a larger leadership development journey that we are on, and my role is to keep the big picture in mind to achieve the goals we have set. This involves creating forums for our leaders to meet and exchange experiences around the training and learn from each other. 

It also involves being curious about what our leaders are doing and encouraging them to share in our common channels. I plan and conduct seminars on various themes that we can then link Yomento training to, such as change management and innovation. I also have access to all the data on leadership development and can produce reports and analysis that we can discuss and that illustrate how our leaders are developing together.
